There are many reasons that your files and folders are hidden in your USB, however, most of the time, it is because of virus hides it. Virus usually hides your real folder, while make and executable file (*.exe) that looks like your real folder, yet it is not. When you double click on it, virus will start playing. The main reason that your USB contains virus files, simply you just think of the last computer you plug in earlier, that computer might contain virus. Those computers might be the public computers at the Internet shop, the printing shops, the school, or the University because those computers are usually accessed by the many people plugging their own usb.
Therefore, don't be scare if your assignment or work folders are not shown within your usb. It is just because the virus hide them, and/or your anti-virus program detect the virus named your folders.
To show it again, press hold window key, and press E to start up explorer window
Press Alt if you are in Windows 7 to show up the menu
Press on Tools and Folder Options...
Go to View tap as below:
Click on Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended), and Press Apply, then OK. These two options the virus uses to avoid themselves from being seen.
After that, you will see your hidden folder like:
Yeah now you can see them, but do you want to see them as blur like this? Some people might know how to make it normal again by right-click on the each folder, choose properties, and uncheck hidden like this:
You can do like that, but if the hidden option is disabled like in the picture. We can make it.
- Hold wind + R to open run dialog.
- Type in cmd to open command prompt
- In the command prompt windows, you can type the following command like this attrib -s -h "drive_letter:\*" /s /d and hit enter, where drive_letter is your usb letter, eg, I:, F: . If there are large amount of the document in your usb, it might take long time to change each attribute, wait until it finishes.
- After it finish, go to your usb drive, and check that all your files and folders become visible as normal again.
